Russian antitrust in talks with Google on amicable solution options
MOSCOW, Jul 5 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has started to discuss chances of an amicable agreement with Google, found guilty of abusing its dominant position on the market of preinstalled application stores, Deputy Director Alexei Dotsenko said Tuesday.
The authority stays firm in the talks on respect of principles of all amicable agreements, including confession of the guilt and activities aimed at neutralizing negative consequences for competition, Dotsenko said.
The Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal will resume hearings of a complaint filed by Google against a lower court’s decision upholding the service in its disagreement with the U.S. company later on Tuesday.
The antitrust authority earlier delayed consideration of a size of the fine Google, which litigated the service’s decision, but the court dismissed the application.
In early June, the antitrust authority’s Director Igor Artemyev said the service saw encouraging signs of Google’s readiness for dialogue and could reduce fine to 1% from 7% of turnover on the market, where it had committed violations.
